Age of wonders 3 warlord outpost spam8/25/2023 ![]() The following units can be produced at any city (of the appropriate race) with a Warlord's Command once the appropriate empire upgrade has been researched. Though they tend to trust the power of their hardened armies over supernatural forces, Warlords have mastered arcane skills that strengthen their armies. Warlords are master tacticians, and often legendary warriors unto themselves. Their armies consist of highly specialized, mobile troops and powerful beasts. I agree not EVERY T1/T2 unit is usefull in lategame but still there are many that will help you win if you know how to use them.Warlords rule by the Law of the Sword, establishing a chain of command based on battlefield glory. ![]() 2 gold medal chargers can rip 1 gold medal knight apart without suffering much dmg while they need MUCH LESS resources to build them. You DO know that you can easily spam silver-medal assassins, yes? And they do tons of dmg on that lvl.Īnd you DON'T need chargers higher than gold to make them useful. And you have to kill them twice, remember? So we got unit that is MUCH harder to kill than e.g. Also they are infantry and gain vampirism due to necro's skill. Lost souls do VERY high dmg if enemy got low morale. The same can be said of assassins or chargers, you're just investing a lot of XP/effort into units that aren't actually stronger. The amount of XP required to level a lost soul the extra 8 times of champion to get 100+ hp is enough to get a bunch of elite or champion level tier 4s that hit 2-3-4x as hard. If you don't know how to use low tier units that doesn't mean that they are useless. Or chargers with their charge, regrouth and flying (easy to strike from rare and hold position there). Tell it to my 15 lost souls with 100-110 hp each in last game. Late game does involve "spam" in general, though, in that building more and better stacks faster is almost always the winning strategy. Sure, you'll be summoning a lot (though don't neglect the tier 3 summons either, they can be more cost-effective) but you'll always need class and race units to support them. Wizards and druids and necros will never have enough casting points to spam their tier 4 units. Sorcerer: Have not played much with this class. Overall, a bit OP (some spells) but relatively balanced. Warlord: Very good T3 and T4 units, powerful spell. Likewise Dreadnought juggernauts do much better when they have engineers with them, a cannon to fight siege battles, a flame tank to deal with swarming enemies and provide consistent round-to-round damage, etc. ago Posted by Decaymoss Rank your classes I havent really play through on all the classes yet but here are some of my thoughts on their ranking in terms of OPness. You're much better off supporting them with crusaders and the like. Spamming the Shrine of Smiting (relgious boat thingie) really is a pretty poor strategy, since their strength grows in the presence of Devout units, and shrines, being machines, aren't devout themselves. And whilst a stack of manticores will probably still beat them, they're vastly cheaper and so you can build many more. An Elven Mounted archer with a focus chamber and stables of vigour may only be tier 2, but they're a nightmare to face en-masse. The only class that can really spam tier 4s is the Warlord, and even then it's far more cost-effective to build a mix of units, especially when you have mystical city upgrades to boost specific unit types. They'll be cannon fodder.īut units from tier 2 onwards remain very useful throughout the entire game. By this I mean tier 1 irregulars and swordsmen and such. The very early game units become fairly unimportant later on, except as garrisons.
